Bonsai

— Boca do Lobo

The idea for the Bonsai Table came while Pedro was designing a dining table for a private commission. This table was the result of the experiments with the Oriented Strand Board (OSB) plates exploring form and structure to achieve a silhouette of a bonsai.

So he realized that a monolithic table with a single column would present a set of interesting design problems, not least those of comfort and strength, while at the same time contributing to the table's physical and visual lightness. Although the form was anything but simple, the requirements of the design meant that the production process was pushed to its technical limits. Considerable finesse was required in the jointing of the components, since the mechanical fixings were avoided.

This was only possible because of the exceptional craftsmanship skills.
