Causeway

— Pedro Sousa Studio

Causeway takes as point of departure the good memories of student days, more precisely the year in Dublin, having learned about peculiar rock formations. Pedro designed this sailboard which forms a three-dimensional pattern, despite the two-dimensional original pattern, as if it were an illusory game.

Causeway was created by experimenting with simple geometric hexagonal forms. Pedro made a series of physical models, which led him to research compositions and develop the exact layout of potential patterns on the tiles, dense and enigmatic perspectives spread all over.

It's a product that has been on his mind for a long time. It has since been developed and matured as an experiment with patterns. New combinations emerge creating an ever-expanding collection.

Body in plywood with a solid wood structure, finally the piece is coated all around with a three-dimensional pattern of wood veneer. Combining these forms with color and tone has built a rich and dynamic collection.

Causeway is manufactured in a limited edition and sold exclusively through Pedro Sousa Studio. The first series is available in four different colors: green, blue, red and finally natural wood colors. 2 pieces are prototypes and 2 artist proofs in a series of 8 pieces each, all numbered and authenticated by the designer.
